With the global sourcing concept, he administered supply chain management strategies in markets around the world. As Executive Vice President of Walmart Merchandising, Marketing & Global Sourcing, John Ryan and Bobby Martin, who was then President and CEO of Walmart International, conceived the concept of global sourcing which drastically shortened the company's supply chain and grew Walmart international retail sales from $1.2 billion in revenue to generating over $47 billion in sales.
In his very senior position at Walmart, John did business with retail and manufacturing giants globally and his decisions and purchasing power positively impacted the GDP and export numbers of entire countries. John successfully developed a network of global contacts and gained invaluable knowledge and experience from traveling to key countries. He is well respected in the industry and known throughout Europe, Asia, South America, Mexico, Russia, and the Eastern Bloc countries.
